DAVID CHING, 1935 - 2025

David passed away peacefully with the love of his family surrounding him.

He will be missed by his loving children Kelly (Lukas) and Andrew (Sarah), grandchildren Emelie and Elyse, brother Po Kai and niece Shirley (Marco) in Calgary as well as many relatives in China and numerous friends in Calgary and beyond.

David was born in Zhongshan, China, and moved to Hong Kong in his teenage years. It was there that his 70-year long career as a photographer began and flourished, resulting in his role as Chief Photographer for the Hong Kong government and winning countless awards. In the 70s he immigrated to Canada and quickly established himself as one of the leading wedding and portrait photographers in Calgary and founded the Calgary Photographic Art Society (CPAS).

However, nature photography remained his true passion and he enjoyed travelling to Banff National Park, China, Europe and, recently, Antarctica and Japan to photograph beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Defying age, he also took up many hobbies later in life, including Tai Chi, Chinese calligraphy and painting, table tennis and the Erhu instrument.

David was a loving father and grandfather, supportive family member and friend to many and a significant contributor to the Chinese and photography communities in Calgary. He will be remembered for his kind, easy-going, social nature, zest for life and unique perspective in seeing the beauty of people and the world - a great example of a life well-lived.

A small private service will be held for the family.

David 生於廣東中山南朗鎮, 少年期, 移居香港, 醉心於攝影, 以勤奮好學, 敏銳的觸覺。

及對藝術的天賦與才華, 贏得無數國際攝影比賽獎項而榮陞為香港政府新聞署, 高級攝影部主管, 程Sir 稱呼, 人所共知。

74年移居卡加利創業, 並成為一位傑出的婚禮, 人像攝影大師。

他熱衷於拍攝大自然及野生動物, 曾在班芙, 中國, 歐洲, 南極, 日本等大江南北捕捉了不少各地之美景於鏡頭內。

他熱愛生命, 晚年沉醉於耍太極, 書法, 繪畫, 乒乓球, 二胡, 多姿多彩, 樂在其中。

David 是個慈父與祖父, 對於家人及親戚, 朋友関愛有加, 照顧週到, 熱愛公益, 為攝影界貢獻不遺餘力. 我們全家以他為榮。

所有認識程Sir 的朋友, 將會永遠詺記他的善良, 隨和, 平易近人的性格, 對生活的熱情以及看待人與世界之美 -- 獨特的視覺, 他的離開,卻是圓滿了他豐盛的一生,不枉此生。

家人將會為他舉行一個小型的私人儀式。
