A few words from David about the Spirit of Nature (2004):

“I have had a strong interest in photography since my youth. It was my dream to be a photographer and to make photography my life’s work. In the many seasons that have since passed so quickly by, I have managed to accomplish this dream. My passion for photography has driven me to persevere through much observation and experimentation in seeking improvement. I feel truly blessed in the results I have achieved.

I am fortunate to have lived in two places in my life, that together, have offered a rich and fascinating dichotomy of subject matter for the camera -- Hong Kong and Canada. The renowned metropolis of Hong Kong offered everything from exotic street scenes of city life to quaint fishing villages. Evidence of traditional culture existed in a blend of the old and new. This offered a treasury of images for a young photographer beginning the journey of his career. The quiet serenity of the Canadian landscape with its vast and natural beauty, offered very different, yet fantastic photographic opportunities.

The awards and the recognition from the photographic community have been sources of great encouragement in my professional development. Yet, these are but momentary highlights in the journey. Photography has been a companion that allowed me to explore nature in a most unique way. The collaboration and competition with peers, as well as the work around exhibitions and other community activities have enriched my life greatly. I have come to appreciate photography as an art with boundless possibilities that offer a journey of limitless challenges and rewards. In the fleeting moods of nature, thoughts and dreams culminate. In the abstraction of color and light, imagination and sensation come alive. The camera can give permanence to all things real and imagined. Through photography, I have had the privilege of transcending time and space.

I seek now to share with friends and other kindred spirits, my delight in a collection of photographs that have captured the magic of nature and of creation. It is overwhelmingly joyous and satisfying to have completed such a collection.”
